Backyard Zen

For this residential project our client had lived in their home for almost a decade but never touched their backyard. The husband, a former college football quarterback with a high stress career wanted a sauna and a cold plunge. The wife, a beauty industry executive, wanted to increase their entertainment space. As a couple they spend they have spent their summers in the Adirondacks.

SPA

Finding the right location for the natural cedar sauna and cold plunge with close proximity to the gym and privacy from the neighbors.

Patio

The bluestone patio was worn and had a combination of sharp linear angles and smooth curves. In this small uncomfortable patio the couple had jammed both dining and a fire lounge, which never felt relaxing.

Our solution was to expand the patio using all new stone with a nice soft curve on the edge. The firepit was moved to the back corner of the yard, creating a destination, away from the dining area.

Plants

Half the plants are native to New York state and could be find growing in the wild in the Adirondacks. Trees such as Quaking Aspen and Hemlock give it that natural woodland upstate NY feel. The other half and decorative ornamental plants that provide the elegant Wow factor!

At night these trees really stand out with soft uplighting.
